Tyler's Last Night as an Only Child

Well, I can't believe it's finally here; the calm before the storm. Tyler is sound asleep in his bed and Jeff and I are just packing up some stuff to take to the hospital in the morning (at 5:30!!). My parents came into town this evening and, after showing them where the stuff that they will need to take care of Tyler is, we went to dinner. We had a lot of fun and Tyler was on great behavior. We are really nervous and excited for this new adventure, but we are really appreciating the peace and quiet we have tonight.

When the Cat's Away the Mice Play?

Jeff is out of town for work and Tyler and I MISS him!!! Tyler is sick and I am having contractions ALL DAY long, needless to say we are not able to do a whole lot. When Jeff goes out of town I usually take the time to get a bunch of stuff done and hang out with some friends, but with little sicko and the inability to breathe comfortably with the contractions, we have been pretty boring. We just can't wait for that guy to get back home tonight. Just a few more days until we have this baby (SCARY)!!!

Cameron's Room!

Okay, here are some pictures of Cameron's room; I surprised myself with my craftiness. We have a full size bed in with the crib because we didn't want to put it into storage and figured it would get used soon enough.

The BIG Girl bed:
I added these cute little flowers this evening and I think they make the room SO GIRLY!
(This was my bed in high school and I LOVE it)

Jeff helped me hang her name and he even adjusted some bows : )
Changing Area

Cute shelves right? They used to be in Tyler's room; I glued flowers on over the stars that were there to match the flowers on the bed.

Fun project; I saw one of these boards for hair bows at a boutique for $60.00, I made this for $15.00!

Jeff Can Breathe!

Tyler and I took Jeff to the doctor yesterday to get the splints taken out of his nose. After they were removed the doctor says, "now take a breath" and Jeff takes a deep breath through his mouth, the doctor and I laugh and he says "no, through your nose," and WOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!! Jeff can BREATHE through his nose for the first time that he can remember! It was pretty funny as he was doped up on pain medication and feeling really chatty, then really dizzy, and the whole way home he would say "wow, this is weird" because he was getting air through his nose. He found it a little annoying at first because there was so much going up there. He also had the quietest sleep since the surgery last night (yay for me)! The doctor said it should just get better and better from here until all the swelling and healing is done; it's already better than before the surgery, so life is good for him. Yay for having a nose that works! (just in time to smell another kiddo's dirty dipaers :) )

How CUTE is this guy?

Every night I check on Tyler before I go to bed and my heart just melts because he is so adorable. Grandpa (Bill) sent Ty this bear when we were still in the hospital and he LOVES it. He carries it around with him over his shoulder and he snuggles with it at night.

What a Week!

Jeff is doing so well (all things considered). He isn't taking pain medication anymore and is only bleeding a little bit. Tyler and I drove him to work on Friday, that was nice because we all got back on our normal routine.

This week, while taking care of these guys, I started "nesting" BADLY. I painted our downstairs bathroom, the kid bathroom, the laundry room, the guest room, and the master bath! It was A LOT of work, but our house is all done being painted, which is such a relief and just awesome. I am putting the finishing touches on Cameron's room, which should be done this week, it's CUTE and I'll put up a picture when it's finished.

YAY FOR THE OLYMPICS! How awesome is it to watch the Summer Games? The Summer Olympics are just about my favorite sporting events ever. And who didn't cry hearing about the story of Lopez Lomong, the US 1,500 meter runner and flag bearer for the opening ceremonies? If you've been living under a rock, here is the link for his story; LOPEZ LOMONG.

Well, this week has been stressful and tested my patience but sitting on the tail end of it, I feel accomplished and thankful that while it has been hard having Jeff in recovery, I am lucky to have him to take care of. I LOVE my family.

Update on Jeff

Well, Jeff got the packing taken out of his nose today! (WOW)... and well... he still has splints in there that don't come out until next week! That's right... NEXT WEEK. He is still in PAIN and bleeding. He can't pick Tyler up for at least another week and can't do a lot of other things either. I was definitely not prepared for how much this procedure would put him out and I am having a hard time balancing Tyler and Jeff while being SO PREGNANT! I know we'll look back at this as such a short period of time but if you are in this situation DON'T let your husband get this surgery when you are HUGELY pregnant and have a 13 month old to play with all day and night. Get better Jeff, we love you.

WINDING DOWN

As this pregnancy is winding down and I am beginning to realize how nuts my life will be for the next few years, I am so thankful for my husband and my stepdad, Bill. My mom and I have this character trait of having things done a certain way, right away, and with little help from others, Jeff and Bill are WAY more relaxed, willing to help with everything, but they don't do things the exact way they should be done : ) So, these guys have impacted my outlook on so many things through the years; Bill has definitely helped me to be more open minded and mellow since he has been part of our family, and OF COURSE Jeff has helped me to be more mellow (laugh if you know him). Anyway, the point of this is, without the ability to deviate from my normal over controlling, spotless routine, I don't think I would be able to survive another baby. In anticipation, I think of the times following my surgery when Tyler is getting his bath and he's not washed in the order that I do it, or when he is getting dressed he doesn't get the silly song or the lotion in the order that I put it on, or this or that in the right place at the exact right time and it makes me panic for a second... and then I realize, everything will get done, Tyler will love it either way, and we will all survive this crazy time. So thank you to my mom, who gave me this personality trait, it has helped me SO MUCH in my life, and thank you to Bill and Jeff who have helped learn how to harness it (sometimes).

3 More weeks until Cameron arrives! The surgery date is scheduled for August 28th at 7:30 am!

My TOUGH husband

Jeff is recovering from his surgery, which took longer than expected yesterday. He also had a hard time waking up from the anesthesia so he had a few hours in recovery before they would let me see him. He is doing so well and isn't even needing his pain medicine today, while yesterday he needed it every 4 hours. The doctor was confident in his correction of Jeff's septum and he felt that everything went really well. (I really liked his doctor, so if anyone is in search for an ENT, Dr. Mendleson has great bedside manor and is also a very capable surgeon). Tyler HATES it that his dad is home but can't play with him or hold him (can't hold him because Ty has this habit of getting excited and slapping his hands down right on the face of the closest person). Yesterday was hard for him, he wouldn't even take a nap but today is going MUCH better and he has been napping for an hour and a half already! Tomorrow the packing that was placed inside Jeff's nose comes out (OUCH!!) and it should be all down hill from there!

Jeff's Big Day!

On MONDAY Jeff is having nose surgery. It's called a septoplasty with some other things involved that clear out tissue in other areas that involve the drainage and breathing through his nose. This is a really exciting event because right now Jeff only has the ability to breath with 20% capacity through his right nostril and cannot receive any air at all through his left; this makes him a mouth breather at night, no snoring because he can't breathe through his nose at all, but HEAVY mouth breathing. I am so excited for him to be able to go for a run and breathe through his nose, wake up in the morning after a night of not breathing through his mouth, and to just have that relief! YAY for finally doing something about it; we'll keep you posted!
